Accessibility Statement

Commitment to Accessibility

Lifford Old Courthouse is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We continuously work to improve accessibility and usability in line with current standards and best practices.

Accessibility Standards

This website aims to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Accessibility testing was conducted following the Trusted Tester Process v5.1.3 and the All Baseline Tests for Web to ensure both technical compliance and a positive user experience.

What We’ve Done

We have implemented a range of improvements to make our website more accessible, including:

  • Fully responsive design compatible with modern browsers and assistive technologies.

  • Proper use of semantic HTML and ARIA labels to support screen readers.

  • Logical heading hierarchy for clear and consistent navigation.

  • Text and background color contrast adjustments to enhance readability.

  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and form fields.

  • Meaningful alternative text for all non-decorative images.

  • Continuous monitoring to maintain accessibility as content and design evolve.

Non-Accessible Content

Some parts of our website may not yet be fully accessible.
In particular, the online booking system (BookingKit) used on the Book Now and Room Hire pages is provided by an external service.
Because it’s managed outside our platform, certain accessibility aspects of this system are beyond our direct control.

We continue to work with our partners and providers to improve accessibility wherever possible and to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility standards.
