The legend of John ‘Half-Hung’ MacNaghten has been told and re-told throughout the North-West since his death in 1761.
The story of MacNaghten is told on the tour of the prison cells here at the Old Courthouse. See the courtroom where he was tried for the murder of Mary-Anne Knox and sentenced to death. You can also walk through the very cells that held MacNaghten on his last days until he was half-hung at the front of the jail.
