As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations The Old Courthouse will host a major free photographic exhibition entitled “Donegal Through The Years”. The exhibition will run throughout July and August of this year and will provide visitors with a glimpse into life in Donegal over the last hundred years. A wide variety of images will be on display, ranging from school and family photos from the 1920s to more recent events in the county. The historic Cooper Collection will also be on display throughout the exhibition. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Courthouse’s reopening as a visitor centre there will be a section of the exhibition showing the rich history of the building over the centuries.
We are currently compiling photographs for the exhibition and would like to make a public appeal for further contributions.
Almost every home in Donegal holds a treasure trove of photographic material that illustrates the rich history of our county and it is out to aim to compile the best of these for all to see. Whether they are family photos, school photos, town events, local buildings or monuments, sporting moments, scenic landscapes, workplace photos or anything else you can think of, we would like to see them.
Great care will be taken with all photographs and all contributors will be acknowledged in the exhibition. All photographs will be scanned and returned to the original owners. Please include as much information as you can with any photographs (people, date, location etc.) and your contact details with the address you wish the photos to be returned to.
Photos can be sent via post to: Photographic Exhibition, The Old Courthouse, The Diamond, Lifford, Co. Donegal. They can also be dropped in with us in person, or sent via email.
